WHAT IS BOTOX/DYSPORT/XEOMIN?
A non surgical temporary treatment to treat fine lines and wrinkles by reducing muscle activity in the targeted area. Botox has been around the longest but Dysport works the same way but the onset is quicker and it has been shown to last longer in some individuals. Xeomin is the newer of the three and lacks the protein coating which is said to reduce resistance.
ARE BOTOX/DYSPORT/XEOMIN TREATMENTS SAFE?
Because the toxin is injected in such small amounts, the safety profile for this medication is high and side effects are minimal. There may be a slight sting at the injection site in about half of the people undergoing the procedure. There may be a mild bruise at the injection site but this is uncommon. Bruising appears to be more common in those people taking aspirin or blood thinners. There might be a concern about a droopy eyebrow or droopy eyelid. Droopy eyelids occur in about 1 out of 100 people. It lasts an average of four weeks and then it goes away.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?
You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 2-5 days after injection depending on the neurotoxin used. However, it is safe to wait 2 weeks before making any revisions so that the tox is fully settled.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
The results vary from person to person but may last anywhere from 3-4 months.
